We are Jordan Levine and Chase Kovar, a youth-driven sustainable organization whose broad mission is to create healthier communities. We do this by collecting distributing used sports equipment to families in need. All kids should have access to try a variety of sports regardless of their financial means. Sustainability is important to us. We are committed to keeping pre-owned gear out of landfills and into the hands of kids.
There are few things in the world that can transcend socioeconomic boundaries as well as athletics. Sports has a great ability to that. We want all kids to have the chance to participate. Specifically, we focus on collecting sportswear and equipment, sanitizing, organizing and packaging items for families who would otherwise not be able to afford it. We donate the equipment to families and local organizations like PYA (Port Washington Youth Organization) and Big Brothers Big Sisters of Long Island.
We were partially inspired by Olympic Brazilian soccer player, Pele who is Shep Messing's (Chase's grandfather) former teammate and friend. Pepe grew up in poverty in the streets of Brazil, barefoot and using rags rolled up with paper instead of a soccer ball to play the game. When Pele rose to fame, he initiated programs like this in Brazil and throughout South America. Today, WellPlayedNY has partnered with Gerando Falcones to deliver soccer gear to help divert crime and eliminate poverty in las favelas.
Our nonprofit organization is dedicated to improving the lives of those in need. We strive to create positive change in our community through various initiatives and programs. Join us in making a difference today.
This past fall we formed a meaningful relationship with Big Brothers, Big Sisters of Long Island. Donating 654 pieces of sports equipment never felt so good.
Our very first WellplayedNY event took place September of our freshman year. We knew that PYA had a shed full of used sports gear. We sorted, organized and dumped it to our storage facility. This is where its sanitized and packaged the goods for distribution to families and organizations. It was here that Rob Hassett (director of lacrosse youth teams) took notice and explained that he has a problem filling his youth roster since there were so many kids who couldn't afford to spend $300 on new lacrosse gear. We made it a mission to slove this problem so that the sport would remain strong in Port Washington. Today we are the vehicle for recycling and reusing lacrosse gear in our community.
In the Spring of 2023, we formed a meaningful relationship with Gerando Falcoes, an ecosystem of social development that was born in the favelas (Brazilian slums). We have partnered with them based on the belief that it is possible to transform the lives of children, young people, leaders and favela residents through a combination of socio-economic education, access to technologies and for our POV, creating healthier outlets through sports to divert crime. We delivered 67 soccer balls and 52 cleats to promote healthier bodies with the hope of creating healthier minds. The little things can turn into the big things!

Spring of our freshman year we started promoting our service directly to families and kids in our community through events. We are grateful to Rob Hassett, Director of Port Washington Youth Activities for believing in our idea and for the support.
Wellplayed is at the Wellground! There is a collection bin outside in the back of Wellground, 917 Port Washington Blvd. for drop off of gently used sports gear. We are redistributing these items to kids who can out them to good use.
We secured 4,500 sq. ft storage space within the lower level of 1180 Northern. Blvd. in Manhasset. Sports gear is routinely picked up from Wellground and dumped here. We then sanitize, package and prep for donation pickup.
